The Regional STEP Skills Development and Competition was held
at Puerto Princesa on Dec. 1-3, 2010. The Romblon National High School Romblon participants had an active participation. Every participant was excited to go to the venue because it is their first time to be at Puerto Princesa. It was also their first time to to ride in an airplane and to attend regional competitions with a budget provided for the travelling expenses of our students/ contestants.
We reached the place safe and sound. We were welcomed by the faculty and staff of Puerto Princesa Elementary School ( Pilot school) where we stayed for 3 days The RNHS group was entertained with a simple merienda offered by my friend, who happened to be a teacher in the said school.
At 3:00 pm of Dec. 1, 2010 we went to Palawan National High School venue for the competitions and attended the opening program and the solidarity meeting followed after the program.
Out contestant in Cocktail Mixing, CANDY DIANNE M. ETIS was the first to perform that day and she was able to get the third place out of seven participants.
Dec. 2, 2010, the next day our contestant in cake decorating DANNIELE RENEE R. FAJILAGUTAN and MARJOHN ALCANTARA for the Dish Garden contest showed their skills with confidence and excitement in doing their output. Contestant for cake luckily declared as the champion and in dish garden Our contestant did not have the chance to be at the top three.
After the skills competition, at about 5 pm, the Search for Mr. and Miss STEP performed their skills in modelling the following category: STEP uniform, Summer dress and Tie dye T-shirt, School uniform and Technology attire. Unluckily our contestant AXEL VAN MAYOR and ERLIE BERANO was not able to have the chance to be at the top three.
With the result, coaches Mrs. Helen M. Firmalan, Mrs. Fely R. Rosales, Mrs. Elsie M. Fajiculay and Mrs. Caren Martos were happy and proud even problem occurs during our stay there.
Sometimes we cannot expect of what will happen to us.Un fortunately, our companion Mrs. Caren Martos got sick so with her Mrs. Fely Rosales have to stay in Puerto Princesa. They will be going home when Mrs. Martos will recover from her sickness. Thanks God, with the help of our former co- teacher now the Asst. Supt. Of Palawan City, Mrs. Magdalena M. Lim, they were able to overcome the problem. At long last, they were able to go home in our province safe and with a smile on their face.
